Controls

  • Root NoteC / C# / D / D# / E / F / F# / G / G# / A / A# / B — Root note of the chord (C to B)
  • Octave1 to 6 — Octave of the root note (1 to 6; C3 = 130.8 Hz)
  • ChordUnison / Octaves / Fifth / Major / Minor / Sus4 / Maj7 / Min7 — Chord the resonators are tuned to: Unison, Octaves, Fifth, Major, Minor, Sus4, Maj7 or Min7
  • Decay0.1 to 10 s — Ring time of the fundamental (time to fall by 60 dB)
  • Brightness0 to 100% — How long the upper harmonics ring compared with the fundamental (low = dark, damped strings; high = bright, metallic)
  • Spread0 to 100% — Stereo detune: left strings down, right strings up, by up to 15 cents
  • Mix0 to 100% — Dry/wet blend

Best uses

  • Turn drums and percussion into tuned, pitched hits
  • Sympathetic-string shimmer on vocals, guitars and pads
  • Make noise, rain or field recordings sing in the key of the song
  • Drones and ambient beds from any source

Properties

Signal chain: Input → 20 Hz High-Pass → up to 4 Karplus-Strong string loops per channel (one per chord note) → DC Blocker → Soft Ceiling → Mix → Output. Each loop is a delay line, a first-order allpass for the fractional part of the period and a linear-phase 3-tap low-pass, so every harmonic is exactly in tune. The loop gain sets the decay of the fundamental and stays below 1, the input to each loop is scaled for unity noise power, and the wet sum has a soft ceiling at 0 dBFS, so it can ring but never run away. No latency.
