Controls

  • Clip Level−24 to 0 dB — The level at and above which samples count as clipped (-24 to 0 dB); set it just under where the waveform flattens.
  • Min Length2 to 8 Samples — How many samples in a row must sit at the clip level before they are rebuilt (2 to 8); higher leaves natural peaks alone.
  • Output−24 to +12 dB — Output level (-24 to +12 dB): the rebuilt peaks pass the clip level and often 0 dBFS, so turn down here or limit after.
  • ListenOutput / Delta — Listen: Output plays the result; Delta plays only what was added back.

Best uses

  • Rescuing clipped interview and dialogue recordings
  • Repairing a hard-clipped master or stem
  • Field recorder overloads
  • Restoring peaks before further processing

Properties

Per channel. A run of at least Min Length samples in a row at or above Clip Level is redrawn with the cubic through the two good samples on either side of it, kept on the side of the clip level it was on and at most 12 dB above it. Runs up to 120 samples are rebuilt; longer ones stay as they are. 128 samples of latency, reported for delay compensation.
