The same music with the Flip Right preset and without the plugin. Switch while it plays.

Controls

  • SourceRight to Left / Track to Sidechain — What is aligned to what: Right to Left moves the right channel against the left, Track to Sidechain moves the track against a reference on channels 3/4 (reports a fixed 10 ms latency so it can also move the track earlier).
  • Delay−10 to +10 ms — How late the moved signal plays (-10 to +10 ms); negative values make it earlier (in Right to Left the left channel is delayed instead).
  • Fine−1 to +1 samples — Sub-sample fine tuning of the delay (-1 to +1 samples), for alignment the millisecond steps cannot reach.
  • Invert LeftOff / On — Flips the polarity of the left channel (of the track's left channel in Sidechain mode).
  • Invert RightOff / On — Flips the polarity of the right channel (of the track's right channel in Sidechain mode).
  • Rotation0 to 360 deg — Turns the phase of the moved signal by this angle at the Focus frequency (0 to 360 degrees; 0 and 360 = off), for low end that a time shift alone cannot line up.
  • Focus20 to 1000 Hz — The frequency where Rotation is exact (20 to 1000 Hz): set it to the fundamental that matters, such as the kick or bass note.
  • ListenNormal / Mono Sum — Mono Sum plays the moved signal added to its reference, so you can hear when the two are fullest together; Normal plays the result.

Best uses

  • Line up kick in and kick out, or snare top and bottom mics
  • Align a bass DI with its amp or cabinet mic
  • Check and fix polarity on multi-mic recordings
  • Undo a Haas delay or fix a stereo pair recorded with a timing offset
  • Turn the phase of a bass under a kick until the low end adds up

Properties

Delay line per channel with whole-sample exact reads and 4-point Catmull-Rom interpolation for fractions; per-channel polarity; Rotation by two first-order all-pass filters, each turning half the angle at Focus (less below it, more above). Right to Left needs no latency: a negative delay delays the left channel instead. Track to Sidechain delays the track by ceil(10 ms) + 1 samples less the delay and reports that as latency, so the track can also move ahead of the reference; the reference is only listened to (Mono Sum) and metered. The GFX and VST3/CLAP interfaces show the phase difference across frequency, the total delay, the latency and the correlation of the two signals (full band and below 150 Hz). In REAPER, send the reference to channels 3/4 of the track.
