Listen

The same music with the Vocal Leveler preset and without the plugin. Switch while it plays.

Controls

  • ModeCompressor / Expander — Compressor reduces level above the threshold; Expander reduces level below it.
  • Threshold−60 to 0 dB — Level where gain reduction begins.
  • Ratio1 to 20 — Strength of the gain change once past the threshold.
  • Knee0 to 20 dB — Width of the soft transition above (or below) the threshold.
  • Attack0 to 200 ms — How fast gain reduction is applied (0 = instant).
  • Release0 to 1000 ms — How fast gain recovers (0 = instant).
  • Makeup0 to 20 dB — Gain added after processing.
  • StyleClean / Bus / FET / Opto / Upward — Character of the detector: Clean is the transparent original, Bus a smooth glue compressor with auto release, FET a fast and aggressive one with a little harmonic colour, Opto a slow, program-dependent one, Upward raises quiet material below the threshold instead of turning loud parts down (up to 24 dB, leaving silence alone).
  • Sidechain HPF20 to 500 Hz — High-pass filter on the detector only, so low end does not drive the gain reduction (20 Hz = off).
  • Mix0 to 100% — Blend of compressed and dry signal for parallel compression (100% = fully compressed).
  • SidechainInternal / External — Internal listens to the track itself; External listens to input channels 3/4 (sidechain key).
  • ChannelsStereo / Mid / Side — Channels: Stereo works on the whole signal; Mid or Side processes only that half of the mid/side pair and leaves the other untouched. The detector hears that half too (or the external key).
  • ListenOutput / Delta — Listen: Output plays the result; Delta plays only what the compressor takes away (or, Upward, adds), before Makeup and Mix.

Best uses

  • General-purpose bus and track compression
  • Evening out vocal and bass levels
  • Downward expansion to reduce noise and bleed
  • Controlling dynamics on drums

Properties

Input → stereo-linked peak detection → gain computer (compress above / expand below Threshold, soft knee) → attack/release smoothing → Makeup → Output. Zero latency.
